Half-Way There! (20 weeks!)

We are half-way to meeting this little active baby!!
This past Saturday marked the 20th week of pregnancy. And it is flying by…
Last Friday, we had our 20 week ultra sound where they do all the measuring of the baby’s arms, legs, heart, belly, head, etc.! Let me tell you, this baby is ACTIVE!! I mean…kicking ALL the time. I can definitely tell a difference already between Sage and this little guy. (Remember, I’m calling this baby a boy). Sage was so peaceful only kicking and rolling ever so gently and gracefully…and this kid is kicking and punching so hard, that it is startling and surprises me. He was so active during the ultra sound and it was fun to see him squirm a  bit.

But…he is LOW!! So incredibly low that it is very painful for me. During the ultra sound, I had to get up walk around and then lay back down and we had to tilt the bed at a slant so that we could get the baby to shift more towards my tummy and chest JUST to see his legs and feet. That is how low he is- we couldn’t even measure his legs or feet with me just laying down flat!!! Get the picture!?

Surprise, surprise…we chose not to find out the sex! We went back and forth for a long time about it and I think if we did find out, it would mostly be because of Sage. We want to know what “she” is going to have- a baby sister or baby brother! For us, we still get a thrill from the surprise! We have everything we need for baby #2 and if it is a boy- we just need some boy clothes!

We are keeping the nursery the same colors- since it was specially handmade crib bedding and skirt!

Pregnancy moments this past week:
*This baby is extremely active!! Even at 20 weeks, I’m surprised by it. Brad was able to literally see a hand or elbow or foot, push up on my belly and move across it. It was crazy to see!

*I got the prettiest tulips delivered to work from Brad, just because I’ve been not having fun dealing with the pelvic pain, awww!

*The pregnancy is different- that is all I can say about that. It’s not as fun as it was the first time. And I think it’s because of this awful pelvic pain, if I didn’t have that, I think I would be just fine and enjoying my days. But, feeling these little love kicks, makes it all worth it!

*Sage still has no idea that there is a baby in my belly.

Here are the pictures from the ultra sound!!!
Baby's face
This might be my favorite picture- this little leg and foot!!

Doesn't this face look like it could be a boy!?
20 Weeks! I think I look just slightly bigger than I did with Sage at 20 weeks.

Kissy Face

Sage has mastered the cutest pucker lip kisses. I try so hard to capture them on a picture. This is he best I could get!

And this video is hilarious! Sage has all kinds of dance moves :)

Baby #2 on the Way!

I know, I know….wayyyy late in posting about this exciting new baby! As you all know, Baby #2 is just about half-way done with cooking ;) But, as I said from the beginning of this blog, this is a place for me/us to share our journey, but also to document our lives during this time. I was never one of those people to sit down and write in a journal- and I sure as heck don’t have time to do that now (hence me just now talking about baby #2!) So, we’ll keep you in the loop as I spend time “journaling” about Baby #2 and of course, share my expanding belly pictures!

Brad and I found out we were expecting basically on Week 4 of pregnancy! There was nothing that really lead me to take a test, other than the fact that I thought there could be a possibility. The test came back positive and I was just soooooo happy! I was NOT expecting to see a positive sign and I didn’t realize it could happen so quickly! I had to keep this secret from Brad for two whole hours (it was really hard, because I was just so happy!!) I waited for Sage to get up from her nap, wrote on a white shirt “Mommy is Pregnant” and sent her to go find Daddy! I always wanted to tell Brad in a fun way about being pregnant with our second and I think by his reaction- I nailed it!!

Flash forward to today- the first trimester was HELL! I felt like crap. I mean, can’t-eat, can’t-move-because-I-might-get-sick, crap!! Brad did SOO much to help with Sage, cleaning, cooking, etc. (who am I kidding…he basically does that stuff regardless of how I’m feeling!) It was a constant 9 weeks of feeling very nauseous. I was  so happy that the second trimester came and I started to feel normal again!

The pregnancy has been VERY different from the first. And I loved being pregnant with Sage. But boy…the second time around takes a lot out of you than the first. I am just SOO tired. I can’t put into words how exhausted I am. I don’tknow how I find the energy to keep up with Sage (and she is one busy girl!)

But, this pregnancy is going by a lot faster than the first, mostly because all our attention is on Sage and not Baby #2 (poor kid is already neglected!)

I started feeling the baby move around Week 15 and he has become more active since then! (Yes, the baby will be referred to as HE during this pregnancy)
I started showing at Week 13 and so far I think I’m right on track from the first time. In fact, I lost weight my first trimester, but I’m right on track with weight now and belly size!

So, there we have it- Baby #2- due June 15th and we are so very excited!
In the meantime, we are just soaking up every minute with Sage!

Christmas

We had such a fun and lovely Christmas this year! Brad and I had a nice four day weekend to spend with Sage! We spent this Christmas with Brad’s parents and his sister. My mom came up on Sunday night and stayed with us as she was on her way up to Pasco to see the Casey family and spend Harper’s first Christmas with her. We pretended that Christmas Eve morning was our little Christmas!
Mike and Lynda arrived on Christmas Eve and we spent the morning hanging and then we went to visit Grammie in her new apartment. Later that afternoon, Christine came over with the dogs (Sage LOVES the dogs!!) and we spent the night hanging out, eating another delicious Traeger dinner by Brad and playing lots of games!
Christmas was full of excitement and lots of yummy food J Sage was not all that into opening gifts, but she did like to play with them once they are opened. She definitely got spoiled by all her grandparents! She got a new play-toy cellphone, some cute clothes, books and a new kitchen!! We think next year she’ll be a little more excited about Christmas, although, I’m not sure she’ll get the whole Santa thing yet.

We were so happy that Mike and Lynda got to spend this Christmas with us! And it was our very first Christmas at home! It was a fun time! Can’t believe next year, we’ll have another kid to add to the mix!!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy NewYear!!
