Nursery in the Making (Week 24)

This past weekend was a very productive weekend for us! We got a few of our major projects that we’ve been wanting to get done!

We spent Saturday morning out at the fabric stores, yet again! We went to a few cute shops and we ended up finding a swatch of all the colors that we want, only come to find out that it may be discontinued. We were bummed- but still continued in our search. By the time we got to our last shop, I noticed that Brad kept rubbing his temples and looking a bit dazed! So we decided that was enough fabric searching for the weekend and we’d go home to see if we could find the fabric we love anywhere else! We headed over to Five Guys for a tasty cheeseburger. I’ve never been there before, but it was delicious! It reminded me of In-N-Out and I’ll be curious to know how my father-in-law thinks it compares!

We spent the rest of the day clearing out our storage unit. We packed everything in boxes and made a few goodwill trips. But the good news is, no matter when it comes time for us to move, whether we are 8 months pregnant or the baby is 3 months old, we are all set to go in that aspect, and to us, that is a huge relief!

We spent Sunday clearing out our guest room completely! We got rid of furniture, cleaned it and made space in the closet. Then came the fun part- we put together our crib! It was pretty easy! We LOVE the look of the crib and can’t wait to see little baby in it!! I even caught Brad peeking in the room later that night just to look at it...so sweet!

Getting ready!

Almost done!

Yay! It's done!

PS. Even though I was responsible for taking pictures, I DID help put it together :)

Pregnancy moments this past week:
*We signed up for all our baby classes. We are taking a four-week long childbirth class, also a Baby Care class and a Brestfeeding class. We are excited for those, probably more me than Brad, because I just want to be as prepared as possible.

*I’ve been craving candy like crazy. If I could eat M&M’s all day, I would. And the weird thing is, I never really liked those...ever! I’ve never been a dessert person...I don’t like cake or pie or ice cream or any type of dessert and I guess I’m still not a fan of that stuff, but for right now-mostly just candy and chocolate. YUM!!

*I’ve been eating strawberries every day! I LOVE them...

*We found our fabric (yaay!) We love it!!! We went online, found all the fabric and the yardage and got it ordered! Can’t wait to see the final product put together!

*I’ve been singing every day this week in the car on the way to work. I’m hoping little nugget likes it! :)

*The hip and joint pain has arrived! Especially in my hips. I notice my hips are sore if they are in a certain position for a long period of time, such as sleeping! Walking at first is bothersome, but they loosen up after a while. So, I try to stay active.

Baby Update:
Little Nugget is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week, which puts baby just over a pound! Wow! Baby is almost a foot long, about the size of an ear of corn. Baby is still pretty lean at this point, but will start to plump up soon. Nugget’s lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help the air sacs inflate once we meet our precious!

Mother's Day Weekend (Week 23)

Friday we had our Doctors appointment to check up on things. We learned that our ultra sound went great and little baby looks great and growing perfectly. Baby also weighed at that point, 13 oz. We also learned that the heartbeat has slowed a little! This visit, I have definitely gained a few extra pounds since last visit. I’m up to 9 pounds gained during the pregnancy. She says I’m right on track and not to be worried with the weight gain...it will all even out at the end =) So, I’m not complaining!

Saturday I went Fabric Shopping and to Tea with Kim (who is also expecting- just 6 weeks behind us!), Kim’s mom and mother-in-law Leslie. Leslie (Sam’s Mom) has offered to make all of our crib bedding as a baby gift to us, which is extremely nice! Leslie spoiled Kim and I with a Mother’s Day Tea lunch and gifts for the babies! I found a few fabric swatches I liked that I was able to bring home to show Brad. We’ve gone back and forth on the direction we want to take the nursery- soft and sweet or bold and playful! I think we are leaning toward bold and playful :)

Sunday, Brad was sweet to help celebrate me (even though I don’t technically think I’m a mother yet) however, according to Brad, I am since I’m carrying little nugget!
I got a sweet card both from Brad and little baby-haha! And some really cute maternity dresses! I’ve never been so excited to get new clothes! We went out to breakfast and spent the day running errands and continue with our fabric shopping. The day ended with a delicious dinner at Red Robin =) Mama was happy!

Pregnancy moments this past week:
*Baby Fetrow likes Cocoa Puffs =) Just gets so excited when I eat them- hehe!

*I’ve made comments to Brad about how this feels like our wedding year all over again! We’ve got this impending deadline to have to make important decisions and finalize preparations. Expect, that we aren’t just thinking of it as “one day” like the wedding, it’s more like “our whole life” type stress! It’s fun, but boy, the time is just FLYING by! Our goal is to have everything done by August, because unlike our wedding year, I don’t want to be doing things up to the week Baby gets here!

*Brad and I are enjoying every moment together! We’ve got all kinds of countdowns going, and one of them is our own time just the two of us countdown. Not only is it 17 more weeks until we meet our bundle of joy, it’s only 17 weeks of “just us”!! I often get a little emotional just thinking about not having it be the two of us anymore...and so glad for the time we did take advantage of just the two of us! We plan to have a few little getaways before baby gets here. Perhaps a “Babymoon” this summer ;)

*Our stroller arrived and Brad put it all together. We have a minor setback as the axel is missing from the box. We are working on getting that replaced, but we LOVE the new stroller and the quality and look of it!

*We picked up all of our baby furniture this weekend! We can’t wait to set it up. We plan on cleaning out the guest room this weekend and picking out paint colors! You can’t see it, but Brad is rolling his eyes at the fact he has to paint this room yet again! Hehe :)

*I’ve noticed that it’s becoming difficult to be sitting for long periods of time, whether I’m at the office or at home. At work, I make a point to get up several times a day and walk about the building.

Baby Update:
Little baby is 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound!! About the size of a large mango. We can see the baby’s movements from the outside and feel them all the time! Apparently, little one can hear lots of things now-my singing, Dexter’s loud noises, the vacuum cleaner- which are all things that won’t faze baby when he/she is outside the womb.

Baby Kicks! (Week 21 & 22)

Life has kept us busy with spending our evenings researching baby furniture and strollers and going to baby sales!
Brad and I have been to a few consignment sales and made some great purchases. In fact, we got our second car base for only $5!! We also got a few other baby essentials that were great deals!

We spent some time last weekend shopping for a rocking chair. Unfortunately, we didn’t fall in love with any. But we have a better idea of what we want.

Pregnancy moments this past week:
*Baby is moving all around!!! The first night Brad felt the baby move was just about two weeks ago! That is also when I wasn’t certain if what I was feeling was the baby or not. We were reading in bed and I just kept feeling my tummy flutter and little jabs and I told Brad that what I was feeling was for sure the baby- I placed his hand on my tummy and sure enough, he could feel what I was feeling inside! It was such a fun feeling and Brad was beyond excited that he finally got to feel the baby! Now it’s all the time where he’ll want to just put his hands on the belly and wait for the baby to move :) :)

*I got sick this past weekend and was miserable again!! This time it was just a bad cold with severe congestion. It wasn’t fun, but feeling much better. I’m just not used to getting sick this often.

*We bought our baby furniture! We decided on all white furniture- a crib, changing table and a dresser.

*We bought our stroller (again!). Brad and I had bought a stroller from Costco that we really liked, but once we got it, we weren’t too crazy about it. So, we went to Babies R Us and “test drove” some other strollers and was amazed at how much there is to know about Strollers! We found one that we love and ordered it!

Baby Update:
Baby at 22 Weeks weighs almost 1 pound!! Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. The lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and baby is even developing tiny tooth buds beneath the gums.
