I was able to “sleep in” and heard them stomping up the
stairs ready to deliver my surprise breakfast in bed. Truth be told- this is my
absolute favorite part of our Mother’s day tradition. I love watching them walk/run
into the room, cards in hand and hearing them say ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ that
they rehearsed so well.
I love watching them struggle to climb up onto the bed
and crawl over to me as they tell me what it is exactly that I’ll be eating for
breakfast. But the best part this year was hearing Sage say “Happy Mother’s Day”
followed by Evan “Hipet Ters Daaaaay” in their cute little innocent toddler
voices. I hold onto that memory, knowing that there might be a Mother’s Day
they’ll forget or be less enthused about. I like to think that would never
happen!!
They each hand me a card- which are all homemade and
listen to Sage as she described each picture and her “cool” hand print. While
Evan is babbling away waving his card in my face, trying to copy all that Sage
is doing!
Then come the presents!! Of course, I had help to open
them. As requested, Brad got me rings with Evan and Sage’s initials. I LOVE
THEM!!!
And he got me new sneakers!!
Then- I was by myself to enjoy the quiet, watch a TV show
and eat my breakfast!!
We spent the day together- playing in the backyard and
relaxing! I was able to run a few errands for ME all by myself while the kids napped
and then came my second favorite part of the day- DINNER!!! I had put in a
request for flank steak, but it was denied by something so much better- ABBY’S
PIZZA!!! This was seriously the best surprise Brad did. He arranged for Abby’s
pizza to be delivered as close as they could drive and also got me Red Robin
fries. It was the best tasting pizza and fries I’ve had all year!!!
It was a perfect day- all thanks to Brad. He did
everything- cleaned up, took care of the kids and let me just relax and enjoy the day!
It was my most favorite day of this year ;)
