O Christmas Tree

YAY!! It’s Christmas time and all my family and friends know that this is my FAVORITE holiday, along with a million other people out there...but still, I claim it as my favorite.

But I have to say first, that I’m one lucky lady to have the best husband in the world who understands my obsession with Christmas... This year I asked if we could get our tree right after Thanksgiving. He knew better than to argue with me and granted me my wish! Such a sweetie!

So on Sunday, we headed out to find the perfect Christmas tree! I decided to switch it up this year and have a different tree with a different theme and decorations. When Brad and I first moved in together, we had not one single Christmas decoration, so we ran out one day and grab just basic ornaments and lights and as the years gone by, we just never got around to updating it! Again, Brad was supportive with what I wanted since he said I always have a way of making Christmas look good!

This year, we took Dexter since it was just the two of us...he was one tired doggy after all that walking and tree hunting.

Yes, this is Brad asking me to take a picture of him as he pretends to act like Godzilla....you gotta love him!

This is it! After an hour of searching and walking to every corner of the tree farm!

Duke vs. Ducks

On Saturday, Brad, myself and Brad’s parents went to see Duke play the Ducks. There were so many exciting factors about this game. One being that we saw the # 1 ranked football team, Oregon Ducks, play the day before and now we get to see the #1 ranked basketball team, Duke Blue Devils, play the next day! Secondly, Saturday’s game marks the first meeting between the two schools.

And the most exciting part of all-the game was staring Duke’s senior Kyle Singler against his younger brother sophomore E.J Singler. And last but not least, these brothers are from Medford and I had the privilege of watching these boys play together! Needless to say, ever since Kyle went to Duke, I become a fan. Sorry Mike (my father-in-law!)

This game was the first chance for Kyle to play in his home state since leaving for Durham, N.C. Rumor has it, that Coach K promises his players that if they stay all four years, they’ll get a game in their home state.

I did not wear a Duck shirt as I am more of a Duke basketball fan. Don't worry, I heard about it from all three of them. So we stopped at the Duck store on the way there and I picked up a Duck necklace. I kept saying that I was neutral to represent Medford :) That didn't fly with my father-in-law! BUT!! I did cheer only for the Ducks...and silently every time Kyle scored!

It was an exciting game to see in person as this is the first time the Singlers played against each other, and the first time they were on the same court in a real game since they led South Medford High School to the state championship in 2007. Kyle is #12, EJ is #25.

The eventual outcome didn't much matter when the brothers hugged tightly after the game.

Thanksgiving

This year, Brad and I hosted Thanksgiving! My mom was able to come up for a few days to spend with all of us and that was a lot of fun. Travis and Tracey came over with my mom on Wednesday night to get things prepared for Turkey day and play some games! It was that night we talked about getting dressed up for Thanksgiving, which turned into dressing up in a costume. We all agreed that it would be a fun idea…then on Thanksgiving, we opened the door to these brilliant costumes that Travis and Tracey were wearing!


It was hilarious and kudos to them for following through. Brad, me and mom received a big F for failing to dress up…but we all quickly changed into our comfy clothes and enjoyed a delicious meal made mostly by Mom, with a little by Tracey, a pinch of me and a sprinkle of Brad. Travis did a very good job at cleaning the dishes! :)




The next day we got up early, but not for Black Friday, but something better…A DUCK GAME! We went to the very last home Duck game this season on Friday with Nick and Alicia. It was wet and windy, but we stayed pretty dry at our tailgater and kept warm with hot chocolate and whiskey! The ducks won! And we are one more game away from going to the Championship game!! Fingers crossed everyone!

Spirit Mountain Getaway

This past weekend, Brad and I had a mini getaway to Spirit Mountain, which is a hotel/casino about 30 miles from the coast of Oregon.

We got up pretty early on Saturday, since Brad was playing in a Turkey Bowl with a few friends. It was raining for just a little bit, but since it had been raining all week, the field they played on was pretty wet and soggy…and then with 8 guys running around with cleats, it turned into a muddy mess!


After Turkey Bowl, we headed to McMinnville to see the Evergreen Aviation Museum. The centerpiece or "crown jewel" of the Evergreen Aviation Museum is a plane known around the world as the "Spruce Goose." The museum contained all kinds of aircraft and its evolution.
One plane that was pretty cool to see is the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress.


Brad’s favorite part was to see the SR-71A Blackbird, which is the world’s fastest and highest flying “air-breathing” production aircraft. Turns out that this is one of only four Blackbird's in museums around the world. Pretty impressive!

But what was most impressive was the "Spruce Goose". It was absolutely amazing to see this gigantic plane and to learn the history about it.

Ford not only made cars, but reliable and rugged three-engine airplane known as “Tin Goose”. The luggage was stowed in the wings!



After a little wine tasting and once we’ve seen everything in the museum, we got on the road and headed to Spirit Mountain. We checked in and went straight to the sports bar to grab a bite to eat. After that, we hit the Roulette tables. The experience is very different from Vegas, but nonetheless, it was a good time!

Friendsgiving!

This past weekend our friends Genny and John hosted a "Friendsgiving". We all got together to have a Thanksgiving dinner with friends, old and new! Each person brought an entree, appetizer, or dessert. We made creamy mashed potatoes for the first time and they came out delicious! We have now received that task for our real thanksgiving dinner with our family! Good thing we had practice :)

Ducks are #1

Saturday was another Duck Day! We headed down to the game with Genny and John! We had a fun tailgater, as we had lots of friends and their family join us! We carpooled down with Sam and Kim, so that we can get parking space next to each other to maximize our tailgate space! Our friends Courtney and Jordan came up to the game, which was fun to see them!

Autzen was just simply amazing! It was such a cool feeling to go to the game when your team is ranked #1!! We're proud of our Duckies!
Brad and I have been doing our research for airfare and hotel rooms down in Phoenix for the Championship bowl game! We don't want to jinx anything, but it's fun to see what the possibilities could be!!
