It's a......Surprise!

We had our 20 week ultra sound last Tuesday! I’m hoping this will be our last ultra sound until the baby arrives- which is a good thing. If we have to have more ultra sounds, that would mean there could be something wrong with the baby.

We were really excited to be able to see little baby again and then really nervous! We walked into the room and before the technician could even introduce herself we both excitedly told her we aren’t finding out the sex! She was great at telling us what we were looking at and what the baby was doing. It was a little tricky to really get a full view of the baby since it seemed like she was narrowed in on the sections she needed to look at. Then came the time were we needed to look away...it wasn’t all that bad. Just a matter of 5 minutes! For the most part, we got to watch it all!
Once again, little nugget was being difficult about getting into the position that she needed for certain measurements and unfortunately, we never really got a good profile picture, but we got one at Week 13, so we are happy with that one!
But our favorite was seeing the feet and hands. There is just something so surreal about seeing the your child’s hand or little foot before you even met this little precious joy! Knowing that we get to touch and kiss those little feet and hands so soon is just absolutely exciting!!

Here are the pictures

Update: We got a call from the doctor to tell us that the baby looks great and is healthy and growing perfectly :) Baby weighs 13oz.

Halfway Celebration!! (Week 20)

This past weekend, Brad and I celebrated our half way point! We are 20 weeks pregnant!!! So exciting :)

We planned a lovely dinner downtown and a night in at the Benson Hotel! We had an amazing dinner at London Grill which is located in the Benson. The food was so good we didn’t want to finish our meal!
We spent most of the time talking about the baby, of course. We both concluded that we can’t wait for the next 20 weeks to be here, but then again, we were fine with waiting :)

After dinner, we walked around downtown for a bit and just enjoyed the evening being the two of us! Since we don’t have much of these nights left!

Here are some pictures

Pregnancy moments this past week-
*I had on two separate occasions, leg cramps. They happened in the middle of the night and I would wake up shouting in pain. If you ever had one, you know how PAINFUL they are. Luckily, my leg feels somewhat normal in the morning. OUCH!

*My appetite is back! Woo Hoo- another fun reason for this week. I had another cheese burger the other day and it was sooo good! I’m starting to branch out and eat things that I used to eat. I’m so relieved by this because it was a pain to not be able to eat some of your favorite foods.

*I’m forgetful. That’s all I can say about that. It started a few weeks back, but I’m learning that I need to start writing things down in a little notebook to help me remember what I need at the store or appointments I need to make. Ooops!

*This is the first week I wore maternity tops to work (Thanks Mom!). I went shopping last Sunday to buy a few more shirts, but not all were maternity tops. I just bought a size larger in some shirts that I really liked (see my 20 week photo!). I can still fit into some of my work pants and one pair of jeans, with the help of the belly band of course :)

*I had my first HALF glass of wine at our celebration dinner since I became pregnant. (Christmas doesn’t count, because I didn’t know then!) The wine tasted so good, I just wanted to keep having it. Now I know why “they” don’t encourage drinking during pregnancy, it can be hard to stop!! But I figured, we are celebrating, so just a little won’t hurt :)

*And SAVING THE BEST MOMENT for last.....I finally felt the baby move!! It was simply wonderful! I was at work, chatting with my co-workers and I just felt this soft pressure and a tickle inside. I instantly put my hand to my stomach and got a little teary eyed. I was in ‘aw’ of the situation and I could feel my heart smiling. I don’t know how else to describe it other than it just felt strange and comforting all at the same time! It was magical! Since then, I think I’ve felt baby a little bit here and there. I’m still trying to process what it is that I’m supposed to be feeling.

Baby Update:
Little baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now and is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana!! Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. Yay!

Baby's First Purchase (Week 19)

This past weekend was pretty relaxing! Friday night, Brad and I rushed after work to a consignment sale and we made our first purchase in baby clothes for little punkin! We were pretty excited to find some neutral clothing for the little one! We also found an Oregon Duck bib and some pretty cool shoes that we just had to buy because; well…they are Duck colors :)

Aren't these so cute!!

Some fun pregnancy moments this past week-
*While getting my pedicure, the gal asked what I was having; I told her we weren’t finding out. She asked what I thought it was and I said my husband thinks it’s a girl and her response was “Aw...it’s because he loves you so much! He wants another you!” I just thought that was the sweetest thing! I went home to confirm with Brad and he just smiles and says of course honey! :)

*While at my swim aerobics class, another gal asked if I knew what I was having and I said it’s going to be a wonderful surprise for us; her response was giving me a high five and saying “right on girl!”. So I received my first high five with that answer.

*I had my first cheeseburger in 4 months!! It was good, but we’ll do a better job of picking a perfect spot for the perfect cheeseburger next time!

*On Sunday I put on my first pair of maternity pants (thanks mom!)

Baby Update:
Little baby weighs about 8 ½ ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom and is about the size of a large heirloom tomato!! The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. They say the baby can hear our voices now!

I’ve been feeling pretty good. I can feel my body changing and the tummy expanding. At our last doctor appointment, I had only gained 1 ½ pounds since the start of this pregnancy! I thought the scale was broken, because I was shocked that I only really gained about 2 pounds and I’m nearly halfway through this pregnancy! Of course, I’m asking our doctor, “Am I doing this right!?” She assured me that my simple weight gain was just fine, and I’ll start putting on the pounds soon!

Was That An April Fool’s Joke? (Week 18)

As of lately, Brad and I feel like our life has turned into a sitcom. We check around often to see if there are camera’s catching our reactions to things...but turns out, no. Okay, so maybe I’m exaggerating a little :) Ever since Friday, it seems that just laughing at some of our situations is the best way to not get overwhelmed with it all! I won’t go into every detail that keeps us laughing, rather than crying or getting frustrated, but the icing on the cake came during our third doctor appointment on Monday.

Brad and I are getting the routine down for each appointment. We had more questions this time for our doctor and I’m sure as the time progresses we’ll have even more. Towards the end of our appointment, our doctor checks our chart and looks closely at our due date. We hear her mutter to herself, “Oh, you guys are due September 5th”. Okay, we don’t expect our doctor who has many patients to remember every detail of our situation. We confirm that yes indeed, we are due on September 5th. She then replies with “Oh, did I tell you guys I’ll be on my vacation travelling in Russia during that time!?” Brad’s response was “Yeah!” and my response was “No!” Did my pregnancy brain forget that our doctor would be on vacation during our due date?!!? I look at Brad puzzled, he looks at me and then goes “Uh...no wait, we didn’t know that!”

She confirms that she’ll be leaving the day we are due to head off to Russia! But not to worry, because I could be early and she’ll be here to deliver or one of the other three doctors will be available when she is gone. As Brad and I walk away, we replay the conversation again and can’t stop laughing. Of course, OUR doctor, the one we researched for months for, the one we really like, decides to take her Russian adventure when we are due! Dr. Murray recommended that we alternate our appointments with the other doctors to get to know them. So we take the advice and plan out the remainder of our appointments for our entire pregnancy. Our last appointment to schedule, falls on our due date, September 5th, which naturally, as the receptionist so kindly told us, they are closed since it’s Labor Day. I don’t think she liked us much after that, because we just burst into laughter and muttered under our breath, “Of course...”

But in all seriousness, we feel pretty confident with the other three doctors we’ll get to know. We did go home and read all their bio’s that night :)

Baby Update:
We are at 18 weeks! Little Nugget is the size of a Sweet Potato (aw!). Baby has become amazingly mobile, passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing…of course, I haven’t felt any of that quite yet! We can’t wait for that to happen!

Week 18

Just because this pretty much sums up our week- I can't stop laughing to take a picture!

Not for Sale

While I was sick, Brad worked so hard to get our place ready for sale, he bleached all of our doors and window frames, then touched up painting all the white floor boards, doors, door and window frames, etc. He painted the bathroom and our guest bedroom white (per our Realtors suggestion). It was a long process. While he was touching up, my job was to de-clutter and organized. And I took this task pretty seriously...some of you may say I was “nesting” a bit...and I probably was or just purely motivated to sell this condo once we listed it on Monday (today). Every closet, cabinet, and drawer is well organized, thanks to my few trips to The Container Store!

Well.......long story short....it turns out, because of other units on a short sale in our complex and the value of our place, our Realtor advised us to not list it just quite yet. So, all that hard work and thinking positively sort of slapped us in the face....at least, that’s how we feel. It’s been discouraging to want to be out of this place now for well over a year and especially when we thought we were going about it in a smart way. BUT...Brad and I have so much to be thankful for. So although the situation is disappointing and heartbreaking, we have a super clean and cute little condo that will fit a family of 3 and a dog comfortably. We have our little one on the way, our love, our health and supportive family and friends that remind us how precious life is. Although we can’t have what we want now, we know in time it will come! Time to focus on Baby Fetrow’s arrival!

PS. Anyone want to help re-paint our guest bedroom into a nursery! Haha! :)
