Sage has a New Trick

Brad and I were in the kitchen cleaning up dinner and I didn't hear Sage or any of her musical toys, so I peaked around the corner to see what she has gotten into. I walked into the living room to see that she has gotten herself up on the couch and was changing the channels of the TV! I have NO idea how or when she learned that! But there she was, just chilling on the couch!Luckily, later in the evening I was able to get some video of her new trick! Goodness, we've got our hands full with this little Nugget!

Happy 5th Birthday Dexter

On Saturday (9/15) Dexter turned 5 years old! We are sad that we weren’t able to be with him to celebrate, but know that he is happy with his new family!
We think about Dexter often and always talk about him. Now that Sage is walking, we wonder how these two would have gotten along. We miss him terribly; words cannot even describe how sad and heartbroken we are that he is not in our lives anymore. I can’t even get through this post without crying!
Brad and I decided to find Dexter a new family last November. We knew that we were being selfish with keeping him knowing that we couldn’t give him the care and attention he so rightfully deserves. With that, we decided that Dexter’s needs are the priority and we need to find him a new home that could offer more people to love him and play with him!
We found the perfect family that lives in Grants Pass (close to his vet) and Dexter is still in the “family”. My sister-in-law’s cousin’s family was looking for another dog and are crazy about Bulldogs. Dexter now belongs to a family of four, Heather and Rian and their two little girls. Dexter also has a doggy brother- Gannon who is a boxer!
We got an update from his new family and this is what she said:

“Dexter is doing great. My girls love him. My husband ADORES him! He has made himself home in our little family. Dexter was hilarious this summer. He loves our pool! Our girls would go out and swim and Dexter would run around the pool in circles the entire time barking at the girls. He refused to come inside and would wear himself out in the hot Grants Pass summer. He would spend hours doing this and our challenge was keeping him cool enough. It was certainly a spectacle. If we opened the back door he would bolt out and look at the girls like, “let’s swim.”
He is a happy dog. We love him”

I guess Dexter gets to sleep where ever he wants to, he often goes to work with Rian, he is almost always with someone, never alone and he has a backyard to play in!

It was one of the hardest decisions that Brad and I have ever made and we struggled with it for a very long time, heck, we still struggle with the decision we made every day, BUT, what keeps the tears at bay is knowing that he is happy and healthy, getting lots of love!

It has taken me this long to post this and to explain the absence of Dexter in our lives. He was our baby before Sage came into our lives and he’ll always be in our hearts- funny how dogs become such a big part of your family!

Happy 5th Birthday to our sweet Dexter! We miss you!

BONK!

One of Sage’s new favorite things to do is to put a blanket on her head and just walk. She doesn’t care where she is going, she knows she’ll eventually run into something and she loves it! (Is this really our child!?!) This video only captures just a small portion of what she does. I’m sure we should be concerned at this behavior, but we are too busy watching and laughing at what she does! =)

Slow Dance

Popi got Sage a new signing and moving toy (she just loves those!)She loves this new one (we have yet to name him) and every time she comes home, she goes straight for it and plays it.

Here is a video of her getting to play with it for the first time- Brad and I get a kick of her slow dance- she has definitely mastered that!

Go Ducks!

Brad and I decided to make a trip of going down for the Duck game this past weekend! It was just the three of us going and we decided against a doing a big tailgater and to just enjoy our time with Sage and Duck football. We got up early and headed down during Sage’s morning nap.
Our first stop was to visit my dear friend Jeanette and her girls since they live in Eugene. We had a nice and quick visit and was great to see everyone!

Our next stop was to campus! We decided to eat at Taylor’s Bar & Grill and walk around campus. It was perfect- the weather was awesome, everyone was dressed in yellow and school wasn’t in session yet, so it was the perfect way to reminisce on our college days! Brad and I shared all kinds of stories as we walked through campus and then contemplated our future with Sage attending =) Sage had lots of fun walking around and taking it all in =)

Sage is experiencing Taylor's Bar & Grill for the first time!!

Walking around the EMU

Sage did great at the game. We stayed for the first half. The only problem was that the game was right in the middle of her nap. We thought we could push her through it, but she ended up falling asleep in the middle of Autzen stadium noise! I was shocked!! And it didn’t help that it was a bit hot in the sun- we think the heat got to her a little. So, with not having her afternoon nap and sitting in the heat- she did pretty good!!

Hanging with Grandma and Grandpa

High-five! Ducks scored!!!

Sleepy girl

I had to go find some shade and a place to sit!

After the game, we decided to head to the beach, since it was supposed to be decent weather and since Sage has never been. We spent the night in Lincoln City and got up the next morning to head to the beach. Brad and I had bets on whether we thought Sage would love or hate the beach- turns out, she is not a big fan of it! Hopefully next year, we’ll get a chance to go over more.
So happy to be in the car!

Getting ready for bed!

Okay, thid time's the charm, right?

The Nanny Diaries

We just LOVE our nanny, Mandie! She is so great with Sage and Laila! We can see all that Sage is learning with Mandie from pointing to things in books, blowing kisses, to learning shapes and colors!
Mandie is great at sending us pictures from time to time (it’s a great surprise!) and I thought I would share a few because they are just too cute not to =)
