Our December

I feel like December was a blur. It came and went so quickly and was filled with lots of things.
This month was busy. I was working constantly and Brad was busy with his new job as well. I feel like we took a lot of shortcuts this month, for instance, for the first time in a long time, we didn’t go out and cut our Christmas tree down. We ended up going to a lot and buying one, and it was a small one. We didn’t put up any Christmas lights outside and we did minimal decorations inside. We didn’t take Sage to see Santa for her first Christmas :( I got pretty sick at the end of the month and Brad got a serious burn injury at work. Needless to say, we were a hot mess. Together, we could barely manage to take care of Sage. We had a team of amazing friends step in and help us out!

We spent Christmas with my side of the family this year. We decided to try out spending the holiday with one set of family. Last year we spent it with the Fetrow side and this year, my Grandparents stayed in town and all my cousins made the commitment to spend Christmas together, as we all did years ago. It was a great time and I was so happy to spend Christmas with my Grandparents this year.

Sage had a great first Christmas, getting to spend it with her grandparents and great grandparents and all of her cousins and second cousins! If only she knew how special that time really was :) She got all kinds of cute clothes and toys and even a new mobile for her crib!

Brad’s hand is healing really well. We were able to go to a burn specialist, thanks to my Dad and Deborah for setting that up. The doctor confirmed that it was second degree burns on his hand, she cleaned it all up, and taught us how to bandage it up properly to promote faster healing. Today is the first day in two weeks that Brad did not put a bandage on his hand. It looks almost back to normal and so far, no scaring!

I’m feeling somewhat back to normal, although I think this month is finally catching up with me as I am exhausted!! I'm glad to have this week off of work to get in rest before going back to the office full time next week.

I owe a BIG THANK YOU to all of our friends who helped us out this past several weeks with Sage, watching her during our transition time when I left for work and when Brad came home from work, helping Brad take care of her while I was at work, and when I was sick, coming and picking up Sage or coming over just to let me get some sleep. Thank you Kelly, Ben, Ariel & Ben and Sam & Kim.

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas filled with lots of love and laughter and you were all surrounded with people you love!

Four Months!

What?? Four months...already!?
From the picture below you can tell how much she is growing. She is starting to really like her tummy time and we are trying to teach her how to roll over.
Sage is so fun!! She LOVES talking and sucking her thumb. She likes to grab on to things and is starting to drool more!

She still wakes up about once a night around 3:30am, but I really don't mind for some reason. I've noticed that she really hasn't increased her milk intake, and is still drinking about 3-4 oz. Today we supplemented with formula for the first time and she seemed to do fine. I'm just not able to provide her with all that she needs now that I've started back at work. I'm sure she would drink more if I provided more than just 4 oz of milk. So, now that I have started supplementing, I'm curious to see if she will now sleep through the night.

I packed up all her newborn clothes the other day. I didn't cry at least :) It's hard to remember how small she was, until I put her in her bathtub or in her swing and I can see how much she has grown. She is just the happiest baby and we love hearing her sweet little voice, can't wait to hear that giggle :)

She has her four month check up on Tuesday!

Little Miss

Here are a few pictures of Sage from the past few days, they are just too cute...I had to share :)
Love that smirk, just like her daddy :)

Look at those eyes!

I love kissing those cheeks!

I don't think the word "Happy" on her shirt describes her feelings at that moment =) hehe!

Thanksgiving / Civil War

We spent Thanksgiving at my cousin Brandie’s house. My grandparents and mom came up to spend the holiday with all of us. We had a great time and yummy food! And it was nice to spend a holiday with my grandparents, who usually make the drive down south to Arizona usually this time of year.
That Saturday, Brad and I made it to another Duck game this year, however, we decided to leave Sage at home in the lovely care of Miss Kelly Sanders! We had a great time at the game but we did miss Sage a lot.

Life has all of a sudden become busy, as if it weren’t busy before. I started working again, but my hours are a little different as I’m not back in the office quite yet. I’ll be working on our banquet staff for the busy holiday season and then resume my full time schedule in the office in January. Brad and I are like two ships passing in the night. Most events that I work on are evening or early afternoon events and I don’t get home until everyone has gone to bed! But it’s only temporary! It’s hard to be away from Sage, but it’s getting easier. It’s a good thing I really like my job and the people I work with; otherwise, this would be miserable.

Sage is growing so much. She is constantly talking, and I mean, all the time. It’s soooo cute! In the middle of the night, she’ll wake up and just start ‘cooing’ rather than crying. So that is a pleasant sound to wake up to! She is such a good and quiet baby. She is so serious at times and just loves taking in everything she sees. She loves her hands right now. She puts them together, sucks on them, uses them to rub her eyes when she is tired and loves to grab on to her toys and pull her pacifier out of her mouth. She is such a joy =) That’s the latest update from us. Here are some pictures and a video ;)

Three Months/ Friendsgiving

Last Thursday, our little girl turned three months old!!! Brad and I continue to be amazed at how much she is growing and taking in her world one day at a time. Brad and I were just commenting on how much she has changed in these past three months. It’s so fun to see her personality come out more and more. She has found her voice. She loves to ‘coo’ at us and she is so smiley. She recognizes our voices and gets so happy when she sees us. Each morning, she wakes up with lots of smiles, it’s my favorite part of the day. She is learning to sit up, with a little help. She can hold her neck up and look all around. We put her in a bumbo (a little seat/chair) and she really liked it! She has found her hands and loves to suck on them. She can reach out and grab and play with her toys. She is drooling a lot =) She loves to sleep on her stomach (only when I am awake to watch her) and loves to see what is going on all around her. We transitioned Sage into her crib last week and it is going pretty good. She’ll go to bed anywhere from 9pm-10pm and get up around 2am for a feeding and then around 6am for another one. Sometimes she’ll stay awake or will go back to sleep. The transition wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be. I think she really likes sleeping in her crib =) This past weekend, Genny and John hosted “Friendsgiving”. We all got together for another year of delicious food and good friends. This year, there were four little ones to entertain everyone. It was such a fun time and we are so thankful for great friends in our lives!!

Beach Getaway!

Last weekend, we went to the beach with the Bales Family. For Brad’s 30th Birthday, the Bales arranged a beach trip with all the kiddos. We had a great time!!!

We’ve had a lot going on in the past week.
Brad no longer works for Columbia Distributing!! He has a new job that he started on Monday with a company called Aspen BioFuel. He is very excited to be starting with a small company and helping it grow and succeed. He had been with Columbia for 8 years and it was time to move on!
His last day of work was last Tuesday, so we packed up the car and took a last minute trip to Medford to hang out with both of our families.

On Thursday, we headed up North to Seaside to meet up with the Bales family. Friday we got up, had a delicious breakfast and then went for a walk next to the beach. The weather was great in the morning and not too cold. Later that afternoon, we went into town for lunch and to play in the arcade a little. As we were headed home, we got stuck in the worst rainstorm and we were all soaking wet…it was incredible how fast the rain approached and how quickly we all got drenched in a matter of seconds. Needless to say, we stayed inside for the rest of the weekend.
We had delicious meals, tasty beverages, had a fire, watched lots of football and played a few card games. It was a perfect weekend to just get away and relax. I can see many more mini-family vacations in our future =)
Thank you Bales family for a fun weekend!!
