Brad and I had our maternity photos at the end of July when I was 34 weeks pregnant!
We’ve been waiting ever so patiently for the photos and our photographer delivered them an hour before we left for the hospital!!

One Week Old

Sage is one week old (as of yesterday!) I'm shocked how quickly a week has passed.

Sage has had a hospital/house full of visitors each and every day!!
The first people that Sage met was her Uncle Travis and Aunt Tracey and her Godmother Alicia and Godfather Nick! They were all there at the hospital to see her within her first hour of life!
The next day we had all kinds of friends and family stop by and they all spoiled Sage with gifts and lots of cute clothes!
Friday we came home from the hospital around 2pm and spent the afternoon together. Brad’s parents arrived Friday afternoon for the weekend, my mom arrived on Saturday night and my dad flew in on Monday morning. Sage got to meet all her grandparents right away, and they all just fell in love with her!

It’s been a great first week. I don’t think Brad and I could have gotten through it without the amazing help from our family and friends.
Thank you Mike and Lynda for coming up and taking care of Sage while Brad and I could rest, and cooking dinner and doing laundry!
Thank you to my Mom who stayed with us for 5 nights to take care of Sage and help around the house!

Our Little Nugget is Finally Here!

Sage Donnine Fetrow changed our lives forever on August 17th at 8:01pm. She is the most precious little girl and we are totally and completely in love with her! =)

Brad and I have always wanted to have little Nugget be a surprise for us, is it a boy or a girl? Clearly Sage is our daughter, because she wanted to give us a little surprise too, arriving 3 weeks early and catching her parents completely off guard! I think Sage won the surprise of this entire pregnancy! =)

It was Tuesday August 16th when we had our 37th week check up. We had learned that I was still 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Dr. Murray also commented on how low the baby was. Which is funny, because that very day, I had to hold my belly as I walked.
Brad and I spent most of the evening talking and getting prepared for Baby as I suspected that it could be any day. Although I hoped it would still at least be another week.

That night, I woke up with my first contraction at 2:11am. At that point I was wide awake, just laying there thinking and basically knowing that this was going to happen. I didn’t get another contraction until about 3:51am, and they came on every 10 minutes until about 5:30am. At that point, we got up, ate breakfast and started getting ready for the day. I took a shower, styled my hair, all while my contractions were coming on every 20 or so minutes. I did force Brad to go to work to get as much done in two hours since I had a feeling we were going to the hospital later that afternoon. At 11:15am, I had 3 contractions, 5 minutes apart, which is the golden rule to going to the hospital (contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute and happening for 1 hour). I called Brad, who immediately left work. By the time he got home, my water had broke!

This was it! My water broke and there is no going back! We got in the car and headed to the hospital. We got checked in, had my exam and got my epidural by 2pm. I was about 1 ½ cm dilated. I decided to take a nap since I was exhausted from laboring at home. I slept until about 4:30pm and then had my next exam to learn that I was 4 cm dilated! I dozed off again until about 7:00pm and then had my final exam- I was 10 cm dilated!! The nurse told me it was time to start pushing. I was in complete shock! I started crying, partly because I was so scared and excited and just overwhelmed with how fast this was all happening. I had slept all day long and then all of a sudden, it’s time to have a baby!! WOW!!

I started pushing at 7:30pm, and 30 minutes later, we met our new baby girl! It was incredible! We both just lost it at the sight of her- here she is, after waiting all this time to meet this little baby!!
She was born at 8:01pm, weighing 5 lbs and 15 oz. and is 18 inches long! She had a head full of hair!!!
Brad was so excited to go announce to Nick, Alicia, Wyatt, Travis and Tracey that it was a girl!

It was the most amazing experience and it was nothing how we expected it, but everything we thought it would be.
We want to thank all of our family and friends for all the support and love they provided during this pregnancy! We know how much Sage is loved already and are so thankful for all of you!

Week 37 Update

We had our doctor appointment today with Dr. Murray. We had a list of questions for her that she went over, and I think both Brad and I have better idea of what to expect.

At this time, I’m 1 ½ cm dilated and 80% effaced! Effacement is when the cervix begins to stretch and thin. This process means the lower segment of the uterus is getting ready for delivery. I’ve also been having contractions and a lot of Braxton Hicks. The contractions come and go and they are sporadic. I can definitely feel my body preparing for labor.

Today was so bizarre because it felt like the baby was so low. I told Brad that I feel like I have to hold the belly to keep the baby from falling out-haha! And to learn that my Dr. can basically feel the head during the exam was just crazy to think about!

Seems like Baby Fetrow may be arriving a little earlier than we anticipated, BUT, maybe not. That’s sort of the fun and crazy part. It could happen tonight or it could happen next week or the week after that! We feel prepared, but I think mostly we are just a little surprised how quickly this is happening. I had thought we would go a week late, in fact, I was hoping we would go a little later from the due date.

I was able to make a trip to Babies R Us tonight with Alicia to get the rest of the stuff we need for baby. It was so helpful to have Alicia there to help me go through everything and just learning what products were better than others! So that is done, phew!

Just so you all know, we’ll be posting on the blog as much as we can with updates as things progress!

Brad's 30th Birthday (Week 36)

This past weekend Brad turned 30 years old!! Brad and I spent a few months talking about how he wanted to celebrate his big 3-0 and he was approached by a friend asking if he wanted to participate in a relay race, which happened to end on his actually Birthday, August 6th. Brad has been wanting to do a relay race for a few years now and even though he got an opportunity to do so this year (Hood to Coast Relay), it was just too close to our due date for him to participate. So when this new opportunity came, he decided that this is what he wanted. The race started from Diamond Lake and finished in Bend. They started on Friday August 5th at 7:40am and finished August 6th at 4:30pm. His first run was on Friday at 3:00pm, he ran 5.8 miles, his next run was at 3:30am Saturday morning and he ran 7.4 miles, and his last run was at 12:30pm on Saturday and it was 2.6 miles. I was SOO excited to see him cross the finish line! That night, we got together with some friends and went out to dinner to celebrate Brad and Kim (who turns 30 a week after Brad!)

I’m so proud of Brad and that he wanted to spend his 30th Birthday achieving a long time goal. He had a great time with the race and will most definitely participate again next year.

We also had another small celebration for Brad at Big Al’s. His parents and family all drove up from Medford to surprise him and a few friends stopped by to wish him a Happy Birthday. It was a great time! Thanks to the Fetrow family for making it a neat surprise for him!

The "three" of us!


Pregnancy moments this past week:
*While in Bend, I experience my first Braxton Hicks. I think I’ve actually had them before, but didn’t know it at the time. In fact, I didn’t even know that I was having them on Saturday night, it only occurred to me the next day. Since then, I’ve felt them many times. It’s such a weird feeling, how the belly gets so stiff and hard.

*We visited our friends Ron and Kelly this week who just had a baby two weeks ago. Baby Brock is soo tiny and cute and I’ll admit, it has me extremely eager to meet our little one! It’s all I can think about now!! How close we are to meeting this little person!! Can’t wait!

*I get heartburn all the time. At least once a day. If the old wives tale turns out to be true, this baby is going to have a full head of hair, that's for sure!!

*I’m nearly finished with the nursery. I’ve been trying to finish two crafty projects for the room and should have them done by Sunday. Now all we need to have for the room to officially be complete is the Glider. Phew! This has taken a little bit longer than I thought, but we really like the overall look of the room. And we just LOVE our crib bedding that Leslie made for us! It’s just perfect! (I’ll post pictures next week-I promise)

*We met with a new doctor yesterday. She went over the results of the ultra sound we had on Monday. Everything checks out good, for the most part. Baby is perfectly healthy and looks like it’s just a tiny thing. Basically we were told that it’s in the 48% of weight, which means is pretty normal, but just a little on the small side. Nothing to be alarmed about. We also learned that my amniotic fluid is a little low-again, nothing to be alarmed about, but we’ll keep a close eye on it. We meet with Dr. Murray (our original doctor) next Tuesday and I hope to go over more in detail about everything. This last appointment, we met with a new doctor and she wasn’t my favorite. Overall, things are good- baby is healthy, just a tiny little one =)

*And I’m so excited to say that I am 1 cm dilated!!! Which could mean absolutely nothing, haha!! But I am excited to know my body is starting to gear up for labor. I could be 1 cm for several weeks, which is not uncommon. So...it’s all still up in the air. Anything could happen...at any time! I think we still have a few more weeks. Although, this process has got us so excited to know the end is near and our little one will be with us so soon!

Our next doctor’s appointment is next Tuesday! I’ll keep you all updated!

Baby Update:
Little Nugget weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 ½ inches long. Baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. Baby's skin is getting smooth and soft, gums are rigid, liver and kidneys are in working order, and circulation and immune system are basically good to go. Baby’s lungs are the only organs that still need to fully mature, but every day Baby gets a little closer to breathing on its own. At the end of this week, we will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.)

Ninth Month Starts (Week 35)

Wow, these past two weeks of not blogging is a testament of what our lives have been like this entire pregnancy. So busy!! But I’ve gotten a few calls and emails about how we are doing-so sorry I’ve been slacking :)

Let’s catch up-
The weekend of July 15th-16th Brad was out of town on a golf trip up in Washington. I took full advantage of this time to re-decorate our bedroom. Hehe!! I had a limited time, so I got busy! Brad came home and liked the new look of it, he only waited 5 minutes before asking how much I spent. But that isn’t really important, right? After all, I’ll be living in that room for three months with a newborn, so I should love it right? I thought so too :) (I’ll post pictures soon, I still have price tags on stuff, in case he absolutely hated it!)

The following weekend was another busy one! Friday night we took our Maternity pictures. I’m so excited about the photographer we found and think she really fits the look we wanted to capture this special time in our lives. We can’t wait to get the pictures back and think they’ll be perfect!
That Sunday, we headed to Camas for a half marathon race that Brad was participating in. It was something he decided to do last minute. He did great and finished it in one hour and 48 minutes! Great job Sweetie!! I also got to hang out with my cousins Brandie and Tori and had a blast connecting with them! Later that afternoon we got to celebrate Wyatt’s first birthday! He had a big celebration with all kinds of family and friends and we were happy to help celebrate it with the little guy!

We had a doctor appointment on July 27th and everything is going great! Heard that perfect little heartbeat. I did measure a little small, but that could also be how the baby is positioned. Which Dr. Murray believes baby is head down, ready to go. At 34 weeks, I measured at 32 cm, which typically I should measure at 34cm. Not a big difference, but enough to schedule an ultrasound just to make sure. We have an ultrasound scheduled for August 8th to get a better look at everything. I’m not too concerned, so don’t all be alarmed. Nugget is probably just a teeny thing!


Pregnancy moments these past few weeks: (this is a lot since I’ve slacked on blogging)
*Dexter must sense I need some extra protecting. The dog follows me EVERYWHERE! I’m not kidding. From where he sits, he can see that I’m only walking into the kitchen, but he insists on getting up and staying right at my feet. If it weren’t for the distraction of treats every morning, I’m sure he’d be right on my heels getting in the car with me to head to work. It’s sweet, sure...but after the 80th time of turning around and tripping over him or the constant visits to the bathroom with me (and I go A LOT!!), it’s just a tad bit annoying. But I know the little stinker means well. I’m sure this will only get worse when Baby arrives.

*I’m moving a lot slower these days. It’s to the point where I’m actually laughing at myself with how slow I am. Often I have to remind Brad that I’m not as quick as I used to be (which I was never really quick, so I guess that hasn’t changed much!) But with the intense pelvis pressure, it hurts at times to walk. So I just take my time and have learned to leave a little bit earlier when I need to be at appointments on time.

*I’ve started swelling and it sucks L My body feels sore from it. I’ve also had to take off my wedding rings, boo!

*Throughout the pregnancy, I never really felt hormonal. But I’m starting to notice that I’m getting pretty emotional (which I just read today is normal at this time!) The other night, Brad and I were having a conversation and I started crying as I was talking. He asked why I was crying, and I said I wasn’t quite sure! I continued to talk through my crying while getting the most bizarre look from Brad. It’s happened again since then, we just roll with it at this point! Haha!

*Getting comfortable while sleeping is just a joke now. I sleep with 7 pillows all around me. I’m surprised Brad hasn’t fallen out of bed yet with how much room I take up!

*We have washed all the little baby clothes, blankets, burp clothes, slippers, etc. Learning how to fold all of it was a challenge, they are just so tiny!!!

*We got our crib bedding!!!! YAY!! We love it and so excited for it! We still have a few more things to do to complete the nursery, and then I’ll post some pictures!

Baby Update:
At 35 Weeks, Baby weighs a little over 5 pounds and measures at 18 inches, not giving little one much room to maneuver. Nugget’s kidneys are fully developed now, and liver can process some waste products. Most of Baby’s basic physical development is now complete — and will spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

My Baby Shower (Week 32)

This past weekend, my amazing and talented friends, Alicia, Kim and Genny, put on a very cute Baby Shower for me and Baby Fetrow! It was a “book” theme inspired by Martha Stewart! They had decorated everything in blue and pink, since we don’t know what we are expecting! The decorations were charming that all revolved around the theme, but the cake was the best, which was shaped like a book!! Baby Fetrow was spoiled with all kinds of presents, but the greatest part of it all was that each person brought a book, so we now have quite the collection of books for little Nugget!

I’m so thankful for my truly wonderful friends, who did an amazing job and helped make me feel so special-Thank you Alicia, Kim and Genny! I apprecaite all the support and love you have given during this special time! And a big thanks to all the people who were able to make it to the shower! It was such a fun day =)

Pregnancy moments this past week:
*On Monday, Brad and I took a Child Care class with Kim and Sam. We learned how to swaddle, how to bathe, change a diaper and soothing techniques when Nugget cries. It was an informative class that we enjoyed! We learned new things such as, how important tummy time is and the different ways you can do that and how important skin to skin contact is. Overall, the class made us extremely excited to be able to apply our new learned skills very shortly! Except dealing with the crying baby part...haha!!
We did master the skill of swaddling as you can see! I’ll admit, Brad is MUCH better at it than I am...so that will be his job!


*We had our last Child Birthing class this week- which means we are certified to have a baby, right?! Just Kidding! The last class was good-we spent time talking about post-partum and aftercare for the baby. I won’t lie, I’m happy those classes are over. But, we did learn A LOT of information about delivery and laboring-so it was good time spent attending these classes. I think Brad and I feel prepared for labor and delivery and at least have a plan in place. We do have minimal expectations for what is to come so that we are able to be flexible for whatever needs to happen for the health of our baby.

*We met a new doctor this week! Remember how our doctor will conveniently be on vacation when Nugget is due! We plan on meeting the other two doctors in the practice as well so we will have at least met once before any of these doctors help deliver. We really liked Dr. Holton-she was great with offering lots of information to all our questions. I asked her if she was able to determine the position of the baby, because I feel like the baby is really low. She tried to feel but couldn’t get an idea of the position, so she went and grabbed the ultra sound machine, and next thing you know, we’re looking at little Nuggets head!!! We also got to see the heart beating and the little rib cage- by the movement of the rib cage, you could see that baby is practicing breathing. Aw :) It was a fun and unexpected surprise to see little Nugget again! Baby is head down, butt up and feet and hands are punching me on my right side of the belly, which now makes PERFECT sense, since that is where I’m getting the most movement at! But for all of those who are wondering...because I know it will be asked-NO, we did not find out the gender!! It’s still a surprise ;)

*I’m getting a little swelling in my feet every now and then. Not so bad yet...I’m sure it will be once the weather gets a little warmer.

*I’ve been getting heartburn every day for the past four days. It’s mostly annoying, but not painful. It has been keeping me up at night.

Baby Update:
Baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space!. I’ll be gaining a pound a week and roughly half of that goes straight to Nugget. Baby now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz) and skin is becoming soft and smooth.
