San Diego Trip (Week 29)

I spent this past weekend in San Diego celebrating my friend Courtney’s Bachelorette party. Kim and I flew down on Friday to celebrate the weekend (Kim is due at the time of Courtney’s wedding and I will have a 6 week old, so we’ll most likely not be able to attend the wedding). It was a fun time and a very different vibe being completely sober and pregnant! But Kim and I made the most of it, and most importantly, our friend Courtney was happy we were there and helped make it special for her. All the ladies were good sports with the two preggo’s at the Bachelorette party and not one of them asked why we were there (although they may have thought it!)-however after they all had a few drinks, they were happy and excited to give us lots of belly rubs!

This past weekend was also Father’s Day weekend and unfortunately, I got in late afternoon, which didn’t leave much time to celebrate Brad. We did however go to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate him :) Next year I’ll make it up to him!!

We started our first baby class this week-Child Birth Preparation. The class was about 2 ½ hours long. It covered a lot of stuff we already knew, but the next several weeks will be more interesting. New things we did learn are the stages of labor and how to time contractions.

We had a doctor appointment this week and everything is going smooth! Baby’s heart rate is good and I’m growing right on pace. We’ll be going to the doctor every two weeks at this point, since I’m in my third trimester. And by 36 weeks, we’ll be going every week. I did get the results back from the three hour long Glucose Test and I passed! PHEW!!! So I can still continue to eat candy, cookies and waffles =) My doctor was happy that I passed as well, since she was a little shocked at how high my results were for the first test. But all is good!!

Baby Update:
Little Nugget now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Baby’s muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and the head is growing bigger to make room for his/her developing brain. Nugget’s little bones are soaking up lots of calcium, which is probably why I constantly want to drink milk! This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in baby's hardening skeleton each day. And I can just feel the strength of those little bones with every elbow poke and kick!
